Delivering Active Ingredients more Precisely and Effectively to the Point of Application

We are developing pharmaceutical products that feature sustained release, improved solubility and more effective intracellular transport of active ingredients.

Sustained release products guarantee drug effectiveness over a longer time period. This innovation allows our clients to improve generics as well as to lengthen product cycles of drugs with expiring patent protection. In contrast to developing completely new drug compounds, introducing these upgraded versions greatly reduces the risk, time and capital invested in new product development.

Improved solubility is key for our clients whose products dissolve poorly in water, such as proteins and „small molecules.“ Our technology overcomes these difficulties to provide a steady and precise dosage in the patient. Our technology will save many new drugs in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries from being scrapped during product development due solely to their poor solubility characteristics.

Capsulution is also developing drug delivery systems to specifically target transport of active ingredients within human cells, which is critical for gene therapy applications. These complex delivery systems allow for more precise, focused drug dosing that improves effectiveness and reduces side effects.

Example: We are developing new formulations in partnership with Schering AG that will enable controlled and secure local drug applications. We will develop special hydrogels in the next few years that feature controlled release of active ingredients from enclosed nanocapsules. The combination of functional hydrogels and enclosed nanocapsules allow a targeted drug release that reduces the frequency of application and raises the effectiveness of therapy.
